Because it can in Uganda!

Why did the chicken, goat and monkey cross the road?
Let's see, where do I even start?! Today I woke up to the sound of bird chirping, it was awesome! It was one of the ladies on the teams birthday today, we sang and bought her a little cake from the supermarket. We started off the day with orientation. Then right after it finished we started the 5 hour drive to Gulu. As we were driving through the country to Gulu I had the overwhelming feeling that the world has more to offer than I had originally thought. Along with that feeling I was reminded that I could do anything I wanted, wherever I wanted. I also realized that Lecrea sounds good in any country! Today as we were buying food from the supermarket I noticed that the group was extremely nice and polite to everyone we came in contact with. Now, I can't speak for the rest of the team but I know that back home I am not always that nice to the people at the store. So that got me thinking, why am I nicer to these people that I'll never see again than I am to people can I come in contact with frequently? Just a thought for you to ponder if you will. We toured one of the baby homes today, I'll tell you a story about that tomorrow hopefully. Tomorrow we start working with the children and I could not be more excited! Thank you all for your support and prayers! Please keep it up! Sorry it's kind of short tonight, traveling kicked my booty today!

Peace out,
Allie

  1. Hi Allie!
So glad to hear that you've arrived! Your great attitude during the whole airplane fiasco just blessed my Chacos off! Hmmm, I don't typically punctuate in all exclamation points...can you tell I'm excited for you?

Have a great day and as I always tell my own kids..."Be sweet!"

  4. Hey Big Al,
I'm not gonna lie....while I'm typing this Jess and I are watching The Office...the one where Dwight counts backwards....5...4..3..do it now...5...4..3..2.. Ha ha ha

Well....it sounds like you are learning some great things. It's amazing what god shows us when we step outside our comfort zone. Jess and I spent the day with Tracey, Gordon's wife, and I am looking at stepping outside of my comfort zone as well. More on that when you come home. Wednesday we are going to hang out with Gersh. I must admit, I am glad I have some exciting things to do while you are in Africa. It helps take my mind off the fact that my baby girl is half way around the world. I know you are in good hands.

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though it's waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah.
There is a river who's streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. God is on that city, and do it will not be shaken. God will help her at dawn. Nations tremble and nations shake. God shouts and the earth crumbles. The Lord All-Powerful is with us. The God of Jacob is our defender. Come and see what the Lord has done, the amazing things he has done on earth.
    Psalm 46:1-8
I love you sis. Have a great day loving the children of God. I love you.
